However -- in case it isnt -- Im here to lay on a thick, whippy icing of reasons why you're bound to love her. With a sound similar to Lady GaGa, but far enough away so she's not perceived as a true carbon copy, this British born, half Jamaican, half Uruguayan vixen has hit the audio A-list nail on the head. Her sound is raw and vicious, her vocals are gritty and her layered stylings are virginal compared to GaGas which is exactly what draws me to her. Wanted by both Timbaland (he flew me to Miami when I was first looking at labels) and Justin Timberlake, Natalia had the world at her black painted finger tips. Eventually she found a home with Will.i.am's label. Then in mid-2009 she began working with Will to form her idea for the perfect, dark, electro-pop album. Later that same year she released her first cadence driven, 90s-drenched teaser single Zombie, along with a video she directed and wrote herself. After that moment, the world was not the same, and never would be. In April of 2010 she dropped Activate My Heart, a robotic themed song that fit into the earths early 2010 obsession with all things electric. Finally, this week, Natalia released her first official single under Cherrytree Records called Mirrors. Some are calling the song this years 'Just Dance,' and Natalia tells us, 'if they are comparing me to brilliance, why in the world would I complain.' Her debut CD The Perfectionist features major production backing from fellas like Jeff Bhasker ( Robin Thicke's Sex Therapy, Alicia Key's 'Element of Freedom ' & Jay Z 's 'The Blueprint 3), Fernando Garibay (Lady Gaga Dance in the Dark, The Pussycat Dolls Bottle Pop & Britney Spears 'Outta My Head') and Akon (featured on Mirrors) -- all of which boasts shes bound for stardom. However, one thing Natalie said you wont find on her CD is, the word party ... because I dont need you to tell me when to party. |
